Swim
Comments: A bit faster this year than last. Had some minor issues with breathing. My heart rate was high so i slowed down for a few seconds. This happened a couple of times. What would you do differently?: Keep swimming and keep improving. I have room for a ton of improvement. Yesterday, i did a 2.3 mile swim in Long Beach. Transition 1
Comments: Not bad transition. There is a nice little hilly run from the beach exit to the transition area. What would you do differently?: be more smoother during transition Bike
Comments: For some reason, I dont like this bike course. I never have. I dont know why. Regardless, I hammered and did it almost 1.5 mph faster than last year. I think that I learned was to go into the small chainring. I always hammered in the big on some of the hills but i changed and was spinning a lot easier going up the hills in the little chainring. You live and learn! What would you do differently?: use the little chainring more often when applicable. Transition 2
Comments: nothing out of the ordinary. Except, i had problems getting my shoes on. Just clumbsiness on my part. What would you do differently?: not be clumbsy Run
Comments: I did ok. I just tried to hammer as best as i could. About 1.5 miles, i got a nasty side stitch. I could not get rid of it for a few minutes. I slowed down just a bit but was able to get rid of it while going up the last hill What would you do differently?: run harder Post race
Warm down: walked around, had some water and cooled down What limited your ability to perform faster: WEIGHT...i need to lose more weight. Reoccurring theme with me. I raced faster this year but I am about 10 lbs heavier. need to get rid of it. I am more fit with the exception of the weight Event comments: I was exactly 2 minutes faster this year than last year. I was faster in the swim and the bike (3+ mins). I came in 3rd in Clydes. So it was a good day. The event is pretty good. Today, Macca was racing. He is a very friendly person and signed autographs and took photos before and after the race. THANK YOU to ALL the VOLUNTEERS! The only real complaint is the awards ceremony takes forever. There are 3 more races...May, June, and November. Last updated: 2013-04-07 12:00 AM
