Overall Rank = 20/265
Age Group = 25-29
Age Group Rank = 1/30
Pre-race routine:

Woke up, drank a shake, got dressed, drove the 2 miles to the race venue from where i was staying in downtown clemson. got there and took everything over to transition and ended up getting gravel stuck in between my brake calipers and my wheels creating this grating sound on the way to transition. after i took the wheels off my bike i laid everything else out and got my chip and body marking.
Event warmup:

not much. ran the disc golf course and paved trail around transition. left for the beach after that and swam out to the first sighting buoy and back.
Swim
  • 13m 56s
  • 820 yards
  • 01m 42s / 100 yards
Comments:

i sighted really well for this first time ever in an OWS race. didn't have any trouble like i usually do where kayakers approach me and tell me im lost. the first 50meters was ROUGH though. everyone was beating each other and climbing on top of each other it seemed.
What would you do differently?:

not much, try to start further to the outside.
Transition 1
  • 01m 22s
Comments:

it was a wetsuit transition, and is always slow for me. i need to practicing multitaskingg here though, my time was pretty slow compared to others.
What would you do differently?:

put my helmet, glasses on while taking the wetsuit off my lower body.
Bike
  • 28m 20s
  • 11 miles
  • 23.29 mile/hr
Comments:

despite my overall rank for the bike, i felt i didn't perform as well as i could. i only stood up out of aero a few times and they were planned points and not out of exhaustion.
What would you do differently?:

nothing.
Transition 2
  • 00m 54s
Comments:

this went terrible. two people i passed on the bike long before transition came out at the same time as me. i need to take an off day and practice mounts/dismounts and heading out for a run. i lost a lot of time to the other podium winners in my AG here.
What would you do differently?:

not sure, practice them and get my transition time back down.
Run
  • 20m 27s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 06m 35s  min/mile
Comments:

i knew right away i wasn't going to run sub 20 like i wanted when my legs where hurting coming out of transition and kept going the whole first mile.
What would you do differently?:

nothing, i pushed it pretty hard to keep any lead i thought i may have or catch anyone i could. passed 3 people, got passed by 1.
Post race
Warm down:

walked around. ate pizza, drank water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

really hard bike/run on thursday and probably the tendinitis i have been fighting in my right foot. felt the best it has in 2 weeks on saturday but its still kind of there.

Event comments:

great race, great venue, great organizer
