Comments: I'm not sure why this sucked so bad - but it did. The water really wasn't all that cold but I never really felt like I got comfortable. I kept hyperventalating and had to tread water to calm myself. I was suprised that I did that poorly considering the fact that I had gotten into the water the week before. What would you do differently?: More OWS Transition 1
Comments: I felt like transition went pretty well. I sat down and was able to get my suit off pretty quickly. I rushed a little too much though and rode out of transition with my goggles still around my neck. What would you do differently?: Practice, practice practice Bike
Comments: I really pushed it on the ride. I felt like I ws running behind and I knew it would be hard to make up time with all the rain. Unfortunately pushing the pace early on left me pretty winded. But as the race progressed, I felt like I got stronger. What would you do differently?: Practice Hills more Transition 2
Comments: I really pushed it during this transition. I ended up leaving my iphone behind just because I was trying to get out of there as soon as possible. What would you do differently?: Again - practice more. Run
Comments: When I ran out of T2 - I was 3 minutes behind my goal and I knew I was going to have to push it to have any chance of beating my goal time of 1:23:12. To motivate myself - I'd get to enjoy a Headhunter IPA if I beat my goal and a warm coors light if I failed. My mission was to try to run 10 minute miles and hope for the best. My legs were a little dead as I headed up the hill but then I felt like I hit a pretty good rhythm. I didn't stop to walk every few minutes. Running up the hill towards the dam was rough but I had Thor and Kevin in my head insulting me again. One of my favorite lines... "Come on fruit beer boy : ) What ever it takes to forget about the pain. I was almost spent as I headed towards the finish line but I felt like I was pretty close to a PR. As I headed up towards the finish - I just gritted my teeth, sucked it up, and ran as hard as I could. 1:20:59. My time for my 5K was my PR for the last 2 years. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Really happy with the run Post race
Warm down: I rehydrated, stretched, and ate an Italian Sausage. So good. Event comments: A great race. Just wish it wasn't on Mothers Day Last updated: 2013-04-11 12:00 AM

I woke up early and had 1/2 oatmeal with a banana. Then I grabbed a small dunkin donuts coffee and headed to the park. I was one of the first people to get there and was actually the first bike in my rack - which is the first time that has happened and it may never happen again. Since I got there so early - I had plenty of time to kill. I got my race number, set up my transition area, but mostly spent the time talking to people. I ate a gu with caff. 15 minutes before the start.
Other than putting on my suit - there was none.
