Run
Comments: My goal was to get below 9 min/mile pace, so I was pleasantly surprised with actual result. A little slow first steps due to large crowd ahead of me. I felt really good and if I would push myself even harder, I could finish with even better time. A consistent efforts on my regular workouts are paying off. It feels great to brake 8:30 min per mile pace, be 16th out of 57 guys in my age group, and 2nd at exactly my age. What would you do differently?: Next time take start position at 8:30min/mile, so I would not have to disrupt the pace passing so many "weekend runners". Post race
Warm down: 10 min walk and stretching, then 15 min bicycle ride to parked car. What limited your ability to perform faster: Incorrect positioning at start sector and large crowd of participants. Event comments: Good, flat, very well organized course, perfect for improving running time and pace. Last updated: 2013-04-21 12:00 AM

Good night sleep (8 hours). I got up at 5:30am, took cup of coffee with a slice of rice bread, white cheese and plum jam. Loaded road bicycle on the rack of my Honda Civic following recommendations of the event organizer.I left the car parked far away from the race. It was a smart move, because all adjacent to the course streets already have been cleared from parked cars. With 3,500 participants, I can only imagine the hassle of finding the parking spot in this old part of town.
It was a pleasure to ride a bike on Sunday morning through almost empty streets of older part of Chicago uptown. After arriving in place at 7:20am and locking the bike, I did 5 min walk, 5 min light jog, some stretching, and walked again. Then I proceed to start sector and positioned myself within 9 to 9:30 min/mile section.
