Pre-race routine:

Race didn't start until noon and the friend I was staying with lives near the starting line, so it was pretty relaxing! The weather was great, nice and cool.
Event warmup:

Not much, jog to porta potties, wait wait wait...jog back to meeting place.

Comments:

I felt fully prepared, my training really paid off. I was able to run the steeper sections that many had to walk. I did walk the last .25 to the top--I could walk it faster than I could run it. Overall I felt my fitness was great.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing really, I was totally prepared and knew that last quarter mile would probably get me.
Post race
Warm down:

Free food, free beer, free bus ride down to the car! Pretty relaxing!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Genetics :-)

Event comments:

The announcer said a few words about Boston at the beginning of the race, his comments were met with great cheers in support of the victims. I know we were all thinking how on Monday, Aug. 15 runners were lining up just as we were. It was a great moment.

Course: This race is billed as the Toughest Half Marathon in the Northwest and it is tough! The first 8.5 miles climb to a the summit at 4,797 (the start is about 2,725 feet.) The finish is about 3,065 feet...super steep going up and super steep going down. My quads are still aching!
