Run
Comments: Started a couple waves behind my seeded wave with Shane. My seed wave was based on my 5k that I ran in 2011 and I didn't want to injure myself as this was a fun race and Shane had similar times as me at 10k level so thought it would be fun running with someone I know. Started with Shane, but he went out low 7s, I knew I didn't want to try and hold that pace this early, so I dropped back to my planned 7:45 pace (last 10k PR avg. pace from 2009). First mile my left shoe came untied, stopped and tied it. Second mile I caught back up with Shane, he was breathing pretty heavy for mile 2. Another qtr. to half mile and he started to drop back and I started to pickup pace slightly. Kept up the pace for mile 3, then decided to shave 10 secs ppm over next two miles and went for it in the last mile, passed tons of people, so many runners I ended up having to weave in and out to keep my momentum, but I didn't care because I felt great and knew I had a big PR. PR!! What would you do differently?: Nothing, great PR, paced well and felt great to the end. Post race
Warm down: post race food and then off to meet Shane at Irish Pub for breakie and suds. What limited your ability to perform faster: early miles could have shaved some pace Event comments: This was my first race in my life and got me hooked on running races. Bands every few hundred yards, spectators and just a huge fun production of an event. So much fun. Last updated: 2013-04-23 12:00 AM

Stretched at home before I left. Coffee, bagel w/strawberry jam, banana. Drove downtown early to get a parking spot since race has over 38K runners jocking for parking.
Light jog and then some strides, butt kicks and high knees on backstreet near race start.
