Swim
Comments: Starting in the last wave made the entire day interesting. Paring up the Clydes with the 20-24 year old's was also fun. Lots of bodies, contact, and slow swimmers. Nowhere near as fast as Janseville, but one of my faster Gulf swims. What would you do differently?: Get to the front at the start. I was late getting into the corral and ended up near the back. Transition 1
Comments: Glad they routed us around the muck this year. Even though it's a long run in from the beach, it is on hard packed sand instead of the soft, fluffy kind. What would you do differently?: Not drop my goggles running to T1. Bike
Comments: Passed people like crazy for the first 3 miles, then from mile 4 to mile 5 didn't pass anyone. After mile 5 passed a lot of people until reaching T2. The joys of being in the last wave. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 2
Comments: First time I marked my bike rack so it would be easier to find, however the guy on the end hung his helmet on the rack instead of his bike and covered up my marker. Still went right to my bike, so no big deal. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: One of, if not the worst run I've had in a race. Never stopped but couldn't go any faster. What would you do differently?: Train more!!! Post race
Warm down: Water, ice bath, cold shower then got in line for food only to find out that they were out of food and drink. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training, nothing else. Event comments: At check in, was told that they were out of XXL shirts, not the first time I've had this problem. They did mail me one later. Overall, this was a good race, I managed to beat one of my training partners and his daughter, one of my co-workers, my student and a friend. So while I did not place where I hoped to, it was a good day. Last updated: 2013-04-24 12:00 AM

This was the first triathlon for one of my students, so I picked her up early and we drove up together. Had my normal pre-race breakfast of a toasted bagel with peanut butter and 1% milk.
Watched Alex's wave start and walked to the swim exit to cheer her on then jogged back to the start. Went out in the water for a quick swim then back to the beach to stretch a little bit.
