Swim
What would you do differently?: Swimming is the one discipline hurt the most with the last month of travel and life. I was faster 30 days ago for sure. Transition 1
Comments: Terrible transition - the weather (cold and rain) really had me guessing - could not decide what to wear, Used my other pair of clear glasses which came apart plus tried something new with my Garmin which did not work out. Really double crossed myself. What would you do differently?: Think out transition in the rain - plan better and execute. Out thought myself Bike
Comments: It was raining - took corners very seriously which made me slower. I had a 17 year old kid I was tracking and finally caught him. He passed me back. It poured on me on McCoy Road. Water was actually coming out of the bottom of my shoe so no socks was the right call. My arms were exposed and red What would you do differently?: Not much - the weather when I rod was not great. Transition 2
Comments: Another bad transition; I was wet and cold. And it affected me. Should have been at least 30 seconds faster. Run
Comments: My legs were cold; when I am cold my hamstrings get tight and my groins complain. Took a good 3/4 of the first mile to feel my pace. Was truly struggling them my feet warmed up. Passed one girl and was passed a few times What would you do differently?: Train in the cold rain??? Post race
Warm down: Warm down - hah - grab some water and proceeded to pack up. Knew I was not placing. The weather really made a downer as this is usually a fun tri post-race but everyone was cold. What limited your ability to perform faster: Three things: 1) Life has been blazing so my rest was less than perfect. Got some rest last week but still not 100%. I was tired 2) the weather - messed with my mind, my enthusiasm and my experience. 3) First competitive tri not as MC - I knew going in that I was not making the podium, So I was racing for myself. Took something out of the race. My time would have finished 3rd in MC. Event comments: The weather made the race a tough one; if this was our first ever triathlon please do another on. I was faster than last year which is a great sign; if the weather had been decent I would have broken 1:15 for sure. Last updated: 2013-04-28 12:00 AM

Typical Huntersville sprint. Up at 6:10, dressed and out the door at 6:45. Went to blow up my tires and the valve on my front tire snapped off. Something happens with this race and my bike every year. It was not raining when I go up but started as I left.
First stop was to get my tube replaced. Thank you so much Cool Breeze. The weather was not good and really messed up my head. I never got going. Set up transition, talked to Jim Doyle who is still a MC, and then tried to warm up - was running late so I ran less than a mile then swam 300 yards. First 100 felt good but my swimming has not felt great for a while.
