Swim
Comments: First pool swim tri. Four people per lane swimming on the right side of the lane up and back. My flip turns were at times a little off timing wise but got good solid pushes each time except for once. Passed two people which took a little wind out of me and got passed once but caught up to the individual again on the last length. Overall pretty solid effort for me. What would you do differently?: Need to get my strokes down and more consistent to hit the end of a length consistently to help with my push off from the wall. Transition 1
Comments: Our "T"- times are bended in with our swim and run times as the race didn't have separate mats to time transitions. Maybe just a touch slow but went smooth and precise. This was a pool swim so there was no wetsuit, I wore a one piece tri suit What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: I will make some recommendations to the race director. This tri was the first in Airdrie in a long time. To many turn around points on a secondary hwy which could have been avoided making a less confusing course set up and more safe. Overall road was good but those cracked, tar filled, road lines made it pretty jarring in a few stretches along the road. What would you do differently?: Could have drank a little more but I wasn't in bad shape going into the run most likely because of the cool conditions Transition 2
Comments: My shoe style doesn't allow for removal during the ride. May look for a different tri shoe in the future. Smooth easy transition no problems. What would you do differently?: I could probably practice jumping off a moving bike but I really don't know if I really can be that competitive in my AG, so not sure the extra couple of seconds is really worth it. Maybe look at getting a different shoe that I can peel off on the bike. Run
Comments: Legs felt like lead to start! Really felt like I was just starting to hit a "good" stride about the 3km mark and consequently finished really strong! What would you do differently?: Need to practice bike to run bricks just didn't have any time prior to the race. Need to run more as well and build my endurance more Post race
Warm down: Just walked and stretched. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of practice in the ride to run phase of the race. Wind was brutal strong on the ride. Riding up an incline with a strong headwind and then a big semi truck passes you and the gust just destroys your momentum. Maybe just a little on the cool side, so after the swim the air definitely kept you on the cold side. As always everybody has the same stuff to deal with though. Event comments: Overall race course needs a little tweaking but overall it was good. Last updated: 2013-04-29 12:00 AM
