Run
Comments: Felt flat as usual, have only run twice this week. Didn't really care about this race result, so thought I'd try and go out a bit harder right from the beginning and let the cards fall. McMillan says that I should be able to do a 1:28 based on a 3:06 full. I also dropped 8-9 lbs since Boston. Gatorade at every station other than my 1 Gel in which case I took water. This worked perfectly for me. 2 years ago I just cracked 1:30 by a hair, at 150lbs. This year at 156lbs, managed 2.25 mins faster. Gains are hard won at this pointy end of the spear. What would you do differently?: Don't pull back in the last few strides - that's twice I've been high-schooled. On a race this big, just sprint all out to the end. Post race
Warm down: Walked it off, and waited around for the fam to arrive for the kids race and the wife's 5k. So was down on the grounds for 5+ hours. Glad I brought the spare shorts and flip flops. Ate some pancakes at the breakfast. What limited your ability to perform faster: Tempo/Threshold work. I have a huge base from the last 2 marathons, but now will do a bit more harder work on hills and intervals once a week. Event comments: Great race, big and well run with pancake breakfast afterwards. Last updated: 2013-04-29 12:00 AM

Race starts at 7am, and there's no parking so I needed to drive to a train station and take the train into town. Got up at 5:45, had a single poptart and a tiny bit of water. Goal this time was to NOT have to pee during the race so no coffee either.
Kinvara 2 shoes, light socks, zoot ultra shorts, compression top and some generic tech short sleeve to pin/torso warmth.
Gel 10 before start, and into the start box at 2 mins to gun - 4 rows or so from front. Off we go.
None.
