Comments:

I started out fairly conservative; I ran the Kentucky Derby Marathon last Saturday, so wanted to be careful and not crash at the end. Kept it nice and slow for the first half, especially up the big hills of Gilbert Ave and to the Lookout & the Conservatory.

Picked it up, just a little, at mile 15. Ate earlier than normal and more frequently this time, too (just to stay on top of nutrition). My husband ran with me, he also ran the Derby, and chose to stay with me for the Pig. It was fun to run with him!

I was afraid of crashing toward the end, but never did. Got to mile 24 and decided to pick it up again. Ran super easy up the final hill before the finish. Felt great and could not believe it!!

The last couple miles my garmin showed a 10:06 and my official final mile was 9:40! I ended up running a 2:26 first half and a 2:20 second half. I ran this marathon 10 minutes faster than the Derby AND had a negative split!!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. I really could NOT believe how good I felt. I ran back to back marathon weekends and finished the PIG (which is a MUCH harder course) 10 minutes faster than the Derby a week before.

Ran with my husband, which was fun. Really could not be happier ~ great day!
Post race
Warm down:

Got a few snacks, sat down for a while with my hubby. Then, walked the mile+ back to our car.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Running a marathon a week before the PIG.

Event comments:

The PIG is awesome! It is my hometown race and I am SO lucky to have it right here! This is such a great, well run event. Awesome swag ~ this year was a soft sided cooler (which I will def use!). The volunteers are the best! Aid stations everywhere; not just typical stuff either. This year I got gummy bears, a twizzler, some jelly beans, a piece of banana, an orange slice. I passed up alot of other stuff, too.

The spectators were out if full force this year, too. The party areas are SO much fun!! LOVED the "PIG" themed house in Mariemont. Very few areas without TONS of people cheering! The PIG is AWESOME!!
