Run
Comments: Im THRILLED with my time!! My goal was under 3 hours, and I did it! This was my second HM and I had performed much much better than the first one. One of my goals was to make it to mile 6 as that is where the "Hill" starts. Well I made it and actually ran a couple tenths up it, but then decided not to burn myself out to early, so I walked a bit. As the hill grade tapered off, I would run some more until it started getting step again. I continued with this pattern the whole 3+ miles on this section of the run. At mile 10, I told myself, "NO MORE FN WALKING! ITS ALL DOWNHILL FROM HERE!!" The Volunteers.....AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!! They were so full of enthusiasm, it was hard not to run my best. The water stations were plentiful and the Gatorade actually tasted like Gatorade. They were well stocked and there were plenty of them handing out the water & Gatorade. The Spectators...AWESOME as well! Even when the rain started, they stayed on course and cheered even more. It was simply a Great running experience! What would you do differently?: Train more. Post race
Warm down: Grabbed a Mylar blanket, some water, an Orange and made my way back to my car. I made my way home and put ice packs on my knees. Once the packs got warm, I flopped on the floor and rolled on my foam roller and stretched. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training. Event comments: AWESOME volunteers and spectators!! There were times when I wanted to walk and take a break, but the enthusiasm and support from everyone would not allow me to. I cant describe in words how the Volunteers and spectators made this a GREAT run and pushed me to go further. With more training and their help, I plan on running faster!!
