Comments: Good transition, about 0.2 miles covered total. 2nd in AG; 9th overall ![]() Bike
Comments: Aero bars came loose about 10 miles in.. had to stop (~2.5 minutes) to reposition and tighten. Had to pee about 8-12 miles before end of bike.. not sure if I drank too much. Weather was overcast for swim and first 1/2 of bike.. then the sun came out and not a cloud in site.. no shade whatsoever What would you do differently?: Check to make sure all bolts are tight! ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Sat down to put on socks and shoes. Stopped bike completely before hopping off 3rd in AG 32nd overall What would you do differently?: Jump off moving bike ![]() Run
Comments: Pretty good.. ran first 2 miles; took a few walking breaks between miles 2 and 4.. and then walked/ran between 4.5 and 5.5 ... and ran remaining .7 miles very little shade after mile 2 or so. What would you do differently?: I had to pee last ~8-12 miles of the bike.. I should've stopped at one of the porta-potties and taken care of business.. I'm sure it slowed me down.. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Walked around... stretched a bit.. Had some food (2 slices cheese pizza; can of coke; glazed chocolate donut; some gatorade) What limited your ability to perform faster: Run fitness; not taking a break to pee (or being able to pee on bike) Not having heart rate didn't help.. maybe went a little too hard on the bike. Event comments: I think if I was doing the half there wouldn't have been enough aid stations.. but considering the restrictions (couldn't have any aid stations except for 7 miles out) it was good. Dropped bike off the day before; put bike repair kit on and covered seat and aero bars with a trash bag.
Morning of, woke up around 3am; had usual protein shake. Left hotel around 4am. Arrived just prior to transition opening. Got timing chip and setup transition.
3 bottles, water BTA, and seat tube, perfrom in Down Tube. All bottles had ice. 4 GUs taped to top tube. 3x chocolate, 1x choc mint.
About 25 minutes before my wave was to start, I had a choc gu.
not much.. since it was a wade start did a little bit of "swimming" as we're getting into water and position
