Run
Comments: I started in the 6th wave. This was the 2nd of 3 non-elite female waves. My goal was to catch some men that had started at least 4 minutes in front of me. I started off strong and let my legs carry me. When we were out of the wind it stayed easy. A couple of the women just took off and then there were a few in front of me. I tried to keep contact with them. This worked well and I was able to pass two after 2.5 miles. It was nice to see a little speed again. What would you do differently?: Push a little harder and keep a stronger on the 2nd mile. Transition 1
Comments: This took longer than normal because I put on a jacket and gloves. It was so windy and cold! Ran with shoes on my feet and jumped on my bike. What would you do differently?: HTFU and not put on a coat. Bike
Comments: This was my first race and 5th (I think) outdoor ride on the tri bike. I felt pretty stable except when I tried to drink. That was mainly due to the winds. The winds were so strong! I had to lean into the winds many times. I also nearly came to a stop several times as the winds tried to push me backwards. Then the sleet started. I have never been so happy to be off the bike! This was my slowest split on this course. What would you do differently?: ride hills and winds better. Transition 2
Comments: Well, I didn't practice getting off the bike or running with it before this race and it showed :( I got off my bike ok, I had to completely stop but I did that cleanly. However, running across the timing mat my bike went crazy and it took me down with it. I felt stupid and bad. Truthfully I'm not sure if the fall is included in the bike time or T2 time. Then there was a bike in my transition spot. I put my bike in on top of towel and just ran off. What would you do differently?: Practice getting off the bike and running with the bike. Run
Comments: I just kept finding targets and running to get them. I think only one person passed me and she was on a team. The wind was still nasty. The uphills felt easier than the two other times I ran this course. What would you do differently?: Keep pushing harder Post race
Warm down: No cool down, the weather took care of that. We had some tapioca type sleet for a while - got everything wet and really really cold. Got a Gear West hot dog and my 2nd place age award :) What limited your ability to perform faster: not sleeping well for the last two weeks. Event comments: This is a fun low key race. T-shirts were tech shirts this year!! Last updated: 2013-05-08 12:00 AM

Ate a protein smoothie with peaches and chia for breakfast and a half of a PBJ about an hour before the start. This sat really well on the stomach and gave me plenty of energy. We got to the park about 7:20, parking was easy and so was getting a good spot bike rack.
I had Kevin from Gear West help with some chaining issues and check my brakes and front fork after my stick debacle last week.
Overall rank is females only
It was cold. I eventually peeled off a layer and did an easy mile.
