Run
Comments: I hate running in sand, but it was okay. I started too high up on the beach and had to run down to the water to get better footing. I wore a t-shirt for the start because it was so cold waiting, but I took it off mid way through once I warmed up and carried it for the rest. What would you do differently?: Start lower down in the more packed sand. Transition 1
Comments: Everything went fine. I had clipped my helmet to my bike because it was so windy, so that took me a little extra time, but probably worth it. Bike
Comments: I didn't use my race wheels or aero helmet because it just didn't seem worth it in the rain. I probably should have worn the helmet at least, but oh well. The roads were very wet and dirty so I slowed way down for the turns, but otherwise I felt nice and stable given the conditions (I was expecting it to be worse). There were people all over the road, riding several across, not on the right side of the road, drafting, etc. I know the road conditions weren't great, but it was pretty ridiculous. Several times I had to hit the brakes and call out to tell people to move over so I could legally pass. I definitely could have gone faster but given the conditions I'm pretty happy with it. What would you do differently?: Wear aero helmet. Not get stuck behind so many slow people who don't know how to stay to the right. Transition 2
Comments: I ran up the wrong rack, but I just put my bike on the other side of the rack, grabbed my shoes, took off my helmet and hit the road. What would you do differently?: Run up the correct rack, but really it didn't cost any time so it was fine. Run
Comments: I'm just glad it wasn't any hotter. I felt pretty good throughout. Tough but didn't push too hard. Skipped the aid station. Wish there had been mile markers. I had no concept of my speed. I probably could have gone faster, but not much. What would you do differently?: Struggled with my watch. Would have liked to have gotten it on to the right mode so I could have gotten my speed. Post race
Warm down: Ate a banana, drank some water, and walked around to watch my parents finish. What limited your ability to perform faster: Saving myself for Ironman training. Overall I was happy with it though. Event comments: 3rd place woman took me by surprise. Only because so many people didn't show up, but that was still neat. Last updated: 2013-05-18 12:00 AM

Got up at 5am, ate 2 bowls of Special K and a strawberry fruit strip and stupidly took my bike out to the car in the pouring rain before putting my raincoat on, so I got soaking wet and was pretty cold waiting around before the race.
Just jumped around a bit to keep warm.
