Swim
Comments: I wasn't expecting to be fast on the swim, but I wasn't expecting to be as tight as I was either. I have put plenty of time in the pool and I have felt comfortable. Today I just didn't feel comfortable in the pool. I am sure the nerves of my first ever triathlon had something to do with it. I will get better, I am sure of that. What would you do differently?: RELAX. I just need to be more relaxed and trust that I am ready. Transition 1
Comments: I knew going in that my transitions would be slow. I have not put any work into transitions up to this point. I wanted to make sure I did not forget anything so I made sure to take my time and make sure everything was right. What would you do differently?: I will practice transitions a lot in the future. Bike
Comments: The course was fairly flat out and back. I got up to speed fairly quickly. There was a bit of a headwind on the way out. I just pushed trough it knowing I would have the wind at my back on the way back. I passed several people on the way out and only got passed by a couple of people on the way back. I was very comfortable on the bike. I felt like my pace was pretty good and I actually came back quicker than I went out. I wanted to make sure that I had something left for the run. What would you do differently?: Nothing really. I just need to continue to put the time in on the bike and keep making progress. Transition 2
Comments: Really slow. I decided to put on socks and that slowed me down quite a bit. What would you do differently?: Practice running without socks. Practice transitions more. Run
Comments: I felt pretty good on the run. I really concentrated on not starting out too fast. I maintained a comfortable pace throughout the run. I probably could have pushed just a bit harder. What would you do differently?: Nothing really. Just continue to put in the miles and improve. Post race
Warm down: Walked around and drank a Gatorade. What limited your ability to perform faster: My status as a beginner. This was my first tri ever and I'm pleased with my performance. I know there are many things I can work on. I will continue to train hard and improve. Event comments: This being my first tri I have nothing to compare it to, but the race was very well run. Sunrise Triathlon Club makes the events very beginner friendly. Last updated: 2013-05-19 12:00 AM

Woke up and ate breakfast, a bagel with peanut butter. Drove to race site and set up my transition area. Checked in and got my timing chip and body marking.
A little light jogging and arm swings before I got in the pool. I didn't do any swim warm up
