Swim
Comments: For whatever reason (some suspect the gel I had 15 minutes before the race), I had this feeling that I needed to burp, but couldn't. This in turn kept me from getting a full breath. Which led me to freaking out a little bit. So I breast stroked the entire swim. Little bummed, because it slowed me down considerably. What would you do differently?: Work on my pre-race nutrition. Transition 1
Comments: Standard transition. Was not in too much a rush after a crappy swim. Was honestly in "just finish" mode. What would you do differently?: Not suck at the swim. Bike
Comments: Feel pretty good about the bike. Just had aero bars installed on my road bike and they seemed to make a wold of difference. Only problem was I installed them and they loosened up during the ride. What would you do differently?: Ride more with the aero bars. Make sure they are adjusted properly. Transition 2
Comments: Again, not too rushed. But felt like a very smooth transition. What would you do differently?: Time to start working on taking the feet in and out of the shoes on the pedals. Run
Comments: Okay. This part sucked. All of the time I made up on the bike ride was lost on this run. I got past the lead legs fast enough, but got multiple stitches in my side. I am assuming this is a nutrition issue. What would you do differently?: Figure out my gels versus accelerade vs water beforehand. I also need to train much more on the run. My straight running was pretty strong but rarely combined all three disciplines with a run at the end. Post race
Warm down: Walked around and took pictures. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nutrition and not training properly enough. Event comments: This was a really well organized race. The swim wasn't crowded. The transitions were well planned. The run was a little rote with the loops, but allowed for plenty of shade which was nice. Last updated: 2013-05-19 12:00 AM
