Transition 1
Bike
Comments: Due to the lack of the swim and a TT start, I told myself I would go all out. I knew it would be tough with the wind and it definitely hurt on the ride back. Overall I improved by about a minute from last year but figure the way the route went, the wind definitely hurt me more than helped. I think on a normal day I could've gone faster. What would you do differently?: Ride more in the wind. Find myself coming out of aero too many times Transition 2
Comments: Dismount and run to transition was good. Could've been below 1 minute if I hadn't stopped to catch my breath and take a drink of water. Transition was small so it wasn't difficult to manuever Run
Comments: Started off running by feel. Saw that my heart rate was actually in Z2 for the beginning so figured I was off to a good start. I felt pretty good throughout the run and tried to kick it up the last mile. I probably could've gone out harder at the beginning but PR'd on my 5K so figure I gotta be happy with that. What would you do differently?: Understand my pacing so I go out hard enough to feel like I gave it everything at the end. Post race
Warm down: Found the family, had my recovery drink and a burrito. I was quite cold after the race so I wanted to get warm fast so I didn't stick around much. Event comments: Race director was put in a difficult spot with calling off the swim. Most of the age groupers were complaining because they let the novices go swim even though they probably should not have. In the end i think it was the right decision and it's just shame that a lot of the novices may have been turned off or scared from that swim that they had to tackle. Last updated: 2013-05-20 12:00 AM

Ate PB toast and a gatorade at around 4:30am. Got to transition just as it was opening up. Setup my area and did my pre-race transition check. Wondered how cold it would actually be since it was quite windy. Stood around waiting in the wind watching the swimmers struggle. They ended up cancelling the swim about 45 minutes after the first wave (25 minutes after I was scheduled to set off) I was disappointed but knew there was nothing I could do. Tried to pee once more but the lines were too long and I didn't want to wait too long for the time trial start.
LIttle swim in the swim area but didn't matter much since I didn't end up swimming.
