Swim
Comments: This was my first triathlon and swimming is my weakest event. I swam the breaststroke the entire time. What would you do differently?: Swim some freestyle Transition 1
Comments: I really took my time and made sure that I was fully ready to start riding the bike. I wasn't really focused on going "fast". What would you do differently?: Practice, practice, practice! Bike
Comments: My average speed was 16.9 MPH, with a top speed of 33.8 MPH. My lap times were consistent and only had a 35 second spread between my fastest and slowest lap. What would you do differently?: Try to maintain a pace that had my heart rate a little lower. Transition 2
Comments: Again, really took my time and made sure that I brought my heart rate down. What would you do differently?: Start walking sooner Run
Comments: I wasn't fully prepared to run 5 miles and when you added in the heat and humidity, it made for slow running plus a good amount of walking. What would you do differently?: Train more frequently and at longer distances. I only ran a few 5k's before the race and only around 10 total miles in the [previous weeks due to a knee injury. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Inexperience, knee injury, and the heat! Event comments: This was my first triathlon, so I don't have anything to compare it to. Even though I was physically wiped out at the end of the race, I really enjoyed competing and completing it. I am looking forward to my next race in 2 weeks. Last updated: 2013-05-20 12:00 AM
