Swim
Comments: I thought that I was a lot faster, and that I got a PR on my swim...well I suck at math, and after checking my times, it showed...Not a PR...Still a decent swim overall for me. I am happy considering that my arms felt like lead soon after the start, and I was nearly hyperventilating too. What would you do differently?: Duh. less study, more train. Transition 1
Comments: Meh. I got up there (It was a haul from the boat ramp to the trans. area--gravelly too!), and I did a decent job overall...the timing chip/ankle bracelet made it harder to get the wetsuit off. What would you do differently?: Toughen up my feet so I can ignore gravel! Bike
Comments: I sucked at this too. I spent every ascent walking up hills...the same hills (except one) that I had NO problem with last year. It was a humbling experience...I usually look to my biking with pride...not this time. I did have a nifty 'pacer' though. Another guy from my tri club was having the same issues as me...one of us would walk ahead of the other, then we would change our order, and the other would lead the next one...we didn't plan it, it just happened...And I beat him by a few minutes, by the way. What would you do differently?: WAY MORE TIME IN THE SADDLE! And then some more. Again, less study, more training. Transition 2
Comments: Nothing to see here...it went well. What would you do differently?: Nada. Run
Comments: Overall, a good run--and this was a PR...according to their time....9:42/mi pace??? wow. Too fast. I don't really think I ran that fast, but who am I to argue? I was very consistent, and didn't walk at all. What would you do differently?: Run a wee bit faster??? I was happy with this run, so I am good. Post race
Warm down: walked around and waited for my gear (from T1) to arrive---It had my bracelet to get my free food..I then got a massage..and was interviewed by the race announcer during said massage. on the microphone...quite possibly my weirdest race experience ever. What limited your ability to perform faster: Me. I did not train nearly enough for this event. Good thing I did not attempt the International distance. Event comments: I love the Auburn Triathlon--I look forward to doing it again next year. It was my first, and is still by far, my favorite...Massive hill of death or not. With a new organizer heading it, I am curious to see what (if any) changes they will make. It is still the most challenging triathlon I have done--at any distance. I appreciate that Last updated: 2013-05-21 12:00 AM

set up transition. Nothing special.
I wandered down to the start, which was through the woods on a dirt trail. I talked to a few other triathletes (a lot of first timers!), and posed for a pic for the press...I have yet to see it. I then hopped into the water--which was pretty warm for once. Paddled around for a bit and 'warmed up'
