Comments:

Horrible. Goggles fogged up and leaked non-stop. Couldn't sight. Found myself off course frequently. Something was dripping into my mouth when breathing and found it VERY distracting. I think it was a wrinkle in my swim cap...never had that happen in practice, ever. Had to stop about every 50 to defog goggles and take a breath. The swim ruined my whole race. I was very confident in my swim as I did 800yds in 15 minutes earlier this week.
What would you do differently?:

Get new goggles...re situate swim cap maybe? Practice sighting
Transition 1
  • 02m 55s
Comments:

I was exploded out of the water. Felt dizzy from getting out of the water too fast. At glance, HR was WAAAY too high.
What would you do differently?:

Swim better.
Bike
  • 37m 32s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 19.87 mile/hr
Comments:

Couldn't get comfortable. Started with a HR too high. Keeping cadence was very very difficult. Felt very uncomfortable on the bike for some reason.
What would you do differently?:

Relax. Too tight. Blown up from the swim.
Transition 2

Comments:

Didn't give a time.
Run
  • 24m 3s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 44s  min/mile
Comments:

This sucked. I started the run fine, but about .25 miles into it, it felt like I had a rock in my shoe. I tried to kick it around but it didn't seem to move. So I kept running. . as I tried to pick up my pace, it hurt more and more... so I stopped and stuck my finger in there to move whatever it was around. No good. So I kept running. Found out later there was a burr or some spiky thing from the transition area (which sucked) that got suck to the footbed of my shoe. Foot was bleeding all over in the shoe.
What would you do differently?:

Check my shoes before I put them on.
Post race
Warm down:

Rode to the car.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I don't know. I just wasn't ready today. The swim really distracted me and it was all over from there. Not to mention sort of equipment failures:

Goggles leaking badly,
Goggles fogging up,
Swim cap? leaking water into my mouth,
poor bike comfort,
burr in shoe cut my foot open.

Absolutely horrible.

Event comments:

It was a great race. Lots of people, competition, etc. I'm sure Triutah events are all like that. My only gripe is the transition area. People were getting in the way of other competitors and there were a lot of sticky's around.
