Bike
Comments: I loved this course! I even did The Bridge, which is a high, narrow board bridge over mud. When it gets too technical, I am faster by getting off the bike and running. I kept passing one guy at all the muddy technical sections by running. He would pass me on the flats. Finally, I dropped him and never saw him again. He was churning and wasting his legs in the mud. Did I say I loved this course? I probably would have done better if there were more hills. I seem to do better with that type of endurance. What would you do differently?: Go faster! Post race
Warm down: Found my kids - they were fine. We watched until hubby finished - he did 4th is his most-competitive class! Yeah! He beat everyone he needed to. What limited your ability to perform faster: Drive, and technical abilities Event comments: A good race. This is part of the EFTA series so it pulls racers from all over New England. There is more competition than at our regular Maine Mtb Series. They didn't have a kid's race. My kids were quite disappointed. Last updated: 2006-06-26 12:00 AM

We had just started our week's vacation in Pemaquid. So we woke up early, and drove south to the race. We ate breakfast at Sarah's in Wiscasset. Very good! Got to race, set up. I told anyone who would listen that my kids were just hanging around during the race. I felt nervous about leaving them alone for 2 hours.
Ride some easy trails. Talk to the other racers. This was an enduro event with lemans start. This means there was about a 200 yard run to the bikes, where you mount and go. I was in the middle of the pack for the run. Some people just lumbered along while others sprinted.
