Pre-race routine:

4am wakeup. Breakfast of PB&J, Banana, and a small cup of coffee. Load up the car and leave the house at 4:45am for the 8 minute drive the start. (Love local races!)

Set up both transition areas, get body-marked, make my way to the start...... and wait. First wave goes off at 6:30am, my start is at 6:41am.
Event warmup:

Stretching and relaxing. Got a decent warm-up on the bike ride to the start area from the parking lot and T2 location.

Should have used reflective goggles. Had clear goggles and that made sighting tough due to the sun.

Get and use reflective goggles.

Due to there being 2 transitions, you needed to pack all your swim gear into a bag. This caused some delay as it was tough getting the wetsuit into the bag with the other gear.

Held back on the bike to prepare for the run. Felt really good on the bike. Some positioning adjustments seemed to really help

Push harder. Was a little too conservative.

Failed to have shoelaces properly adjusted. This required more time to get them set for the run. Could have had a quicker T2 time.

Failure to push myself harder. Held too much back.

Event comments:

Great local event. Race Director - Trudy Wakeman - does a fantastic job. Race announcer was great as well. Communication throughout was superb. Will be back again in 2014.
