Swim
Comments: I was really happy with my swim until I started analyizing the spilt times for everyone's swim. I started close to the front of my group and felt good in the water the whole time. Stayed on course pretty well and kept to the inside, right by the bouys. Now, what I got a little annoyed about is that my swim time felt a little slow(although it did include the run up the beach). After looking at the results, I am pretty sure I could have pushed harder and stuck with the top 3 in my AG. I think I have been kinda going easy on the swims since I can usually do pretty well. Not so much anymore! What would you do differently?: I really want to push myself on the swim from now on. I should have been taking advantace of my strong swimming skills. I think I've been taking it easy so I could work harder on the bike, but I really think I can do both. I need to try and include some shorter distance sprints into my training and get used to swimming fast again. Transition 1
Comments: My time for T1, might be the fastest yet, so I'm happy with everything Bike
Comments: Felt really nice on the bike. This is only the second race I've had my bike and I can tell I am a lot more comfortable. Brett put nice fast-girl weels on my bike and I liked riding with them. The course was pretty much rolling hills with a good amount of small downhills and flats. Riding on Hwy 41 was awesome. I was happy that I stayed in aero a lot more that I am used to. I think sometimes that I ride like I'm a 90 year old woman driving a car. Didn't feel like that as much today! My bike computer never started, but that's ok, it might be better that I wasn't obcessing about my speed. What would you do differently?: Now that I'm feeling comfortable on my bike, I need to try to get faster at the 12-15 mile distance. Riding in aero more will also help...I'm getting better, but still begin to feel a little out of control sometimes. I also want to learn to be more aggressive in passing. Now that I look back, I think I could have pushed a little more and passed more people. And I think I could always work on improving my climbing. Transition 2
Comments: This is my fastest T2 yet. It felt good and I am glad I started to think about what I needed to do the day before. Instead of putting on my race bet while standing, I just did it as I left the area. I could do the same with my visor too...next time. What would you do differently?: Grab number and visor and put on wheile running. Run
Comments: I think the run is where I need to really improve. I have never been a great runner, or a fast runner. I think I have a lot of work to do, but I know it's possible. I am pretty happy that I didn't have to walk at all but I was just getting passed by too many people and felt really slow. I'm pretty sure that that might be a PR for a 5K, but that's not saying much. What would you do differently?: Run, run, run. I want to try and get faster on the run and I think track workouts are going to help a lot. I guess my new Polar F11 is going to get lots of use in the next few months. I'm hoping it's going to really help in my training. Post race
Warm down: Talking to Kraig and my friend Meredith. Then hanging out at the finish. It's way more fun to do races where you know people. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not much...I'm pretty happy overall. Event comments: This was a good race! I think GA Multisport does a good job...the worst thing that I saw happen was that the race started like 5-10 min late. No big deal. I think I'll probably do this race again. It was cool to race with all women, and we got nice dri-fit t-shirts! Last updated: 2006-06-26 12:00 AM

Got up EARLY at 4:20, got dressed and packed up water bottles while trying not to wake up brother-in-law that waspassed out on the couch. Ate a Power Bar and water on the way to the race. Arrived about 1:30 before start. Which was great and I didn't really have to rush around.
Standing in line for the bathroom and streching a bit before the swim.
