Comments: I felt much more confident in the water than last time. I was much more relaxed and I felt like I swam better. My time only improved by 19 seconds over last race but I felt less worn out when I came out of the pool. What would you do differently?: Nothing really, just continue to put the time in the pool and get better. Transition 1
Comments: I have spent a lot of time the last two weeks working on transitions. I worked on flying mounts and dismounts. I wouldn't exactly describe mine as flying just yet but I am at least moving. I knocked almost a minute off of my T1 time since the first race 2 weeks ago so I am very happy. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Continue to practice transitions. Bike
Comments: It took me longer than I had hoped to get my feet in my shoes, but I was able to get in and get up to speed. I passed 4 people on the bike and was passed by 4 people. I felt pretty good on the way out with a slight tailwind pushing me. On the way back I definitely felt the head wind and had to push hard through it. I still felt like I would have plenty left for the run. What would you do differently?: Just keep training and getting better on the bike. Transition 2
Comments: I had to sit down to put my running shoes on which cost me a few seconds but overall I'm pleased with T2. I knocked over a minute off since the race two weeks ago. What would you do differently?: Stay standing to put on running shoes. Run
Comments: I felt decent on the run. I felt good coming off of the bike and I focused on not going out to fast. As a beginner I just need to keep working and increasing my fitness level. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Continue to train and improve fitness. Post race
Warm down: It started to rain just as I finished. I grabbed a chocolate milk and got packed up and headed for the truck What limited your ability to perform faster: My status as a newcomer to the sport. I got up and got ready to drive to the race site. I had a whole grain Pop Tart for breakfast and got on the road. I got to the transition area early enough to get a pretty good pick on the rack. I set up transition, got my chip, and went to body marking. I felt a lot less nervous than last time. Much more relaxed now that I have a race under my belt.
Light jogging. Didn't get in the pool until the start of the race.
