Swim
Comments: Course was very short. More like 350 yards based on previous OWS. Sprint to first buoy to keep out of the mess. Lost track of my draft so fell off the front group, but did a pretty solid job of sighting (which is unusual). Pretty happy with the performance What would you do differently?: Start on the inside so I don't lose track of my draft. Transition 1
Comments: Third fastest out of T1 and passed 4 AG'ers in transition so made up for the lost draft. 5s off leader so not a ton of room for improvement. Garmin autooff cost me a little time, so fix that issue. Bike
Comments: Very pleased with the bike. Well designed course with room to pass at all times. Back and forth passing with a guy with a disc, so after the fourth time of us going back and forth I sat 4-5 bike lengths back and let him do some work. He then fell back and I lead him for 3-4 miles, then he passed again. I let him lead for 3-4 miles and then passed with about 2 miles before T2. Never saw him on the run. Cranked out 210 watts which is about 90% of current FTP. Should have been able to go hire but was hurt by the long training ride (with the 20mm TT) from Saturday. What would you do differently?: Overall pleased...don't do a TT the day before. NOTE: Actual bike distance was 14.4 miles not 15 miles Transition 2
Comments: 2nd in AG for T2. 3rd place overall transitioned 6 seconds faster. Slightly delayed by shoes dragging in bike. From now on just through bike over the shoulder and run. Run
Comments: I knew I was tired from the hard weekend and came out 5 seconds behind 3rd place. I knew I was close to the podium and just focused on tracking this guy down quickly and to try to put a mental hurt on him. Out of T2 there is a small, but steep hill (think 20ft long and 10ft of climbing), darted up to the top and then tried to track down 3rd place....and no. Calves just seized up from the long weekend. My brain was there but body was not as he slowly pulled away. Oh well, next goal was to try to not let anybody pass me. Mission accomplished, but hobbled in with a 20:20 split (course was short, actual pace was 7:22 per mile which is about 25 seconds off my last 5k). Post race
Warm down: Walked around and cheered for friends What limited your ability to perform faster: 1. Training hard on Saturday was a limiter, but this wasn't the A race and trying to prepare for BSLT and IMWI takes priority 2. Given the training, I finished 2 minutes behind 3rd place. I would have needed to post a PR on the 5k and pick up 30s on the bike to make 3rd place. Even if I had tapered it still would have been close. Event comments: Need to get the distances right. Either the correct lengths or advertise a shorter race. Either is fine, but not posting correct distances really isn't acceptable in this day and age. That being said, Playtri puts on a great event and I will be back next year. Last updated: 2013-06-05 12:00 AM

Up at 5:00am, walk the dog, pack the truck and off to Starbucks for the local tri routine of bagel with peanut butter and a bit of coffee. Arrived at the parking garage, which was a little backed up, at 6:10. No problems, set up transition within 10 minutes and then off to watch the Olympic race start. Legs definitely tired from the 3 hour ride yesterday, but this is a "c" race so HTFU.
Limited warmup given we are out of transition at 7am but my heat didn't start until 8:20
