Swim
Comments: Started back because they wanted us to let the faster swimmers go first. I didn't think I would be as fast. I was wrong. I ran into the front guys then got run over by the back guys as I slowed down. It was like that for the first half until I got around the buoy. On the turn at the buoy, it was a fight for position. I kept stopping that first half to get sight for an open spot. It seemed no matter where I turned, there was an athlete. I was not in racing shape for this one. What would you do differently?: Start front and to the left and swim fast. Not stop but just keep stroking. Transition 1
Comments: Not familiar with the course but I had one foot in and one foot out of the shoes. What would you do differently?: Think I will just put the shoes on and run with the bike for this one next year. Learn how to jump on the bike on the run. I need to be in better shape next time. Bike
Comments: I had to wait until I got up the hills at the start to get the other foot in. Overall though, I did Okay. Would have like to had 20 mph, but with the start, I will settle with 19. What would you do differently?: Be in better shape. Get up to speed at the start and not fight getting feet in shoes. Transition 2
Comments: Had some new shoes that I never ran with and had a little trouble getting them on. What would you do differently?: Nothing, did the best I could. Run
Comments: Calves cramped at beginning but I seem to do that every race. Slows the start, but I get going after awhile. A little slower than last year with my running. Really enjoyed the run. Didn't want it to end. What would you do differently?: Find a way to loosen the calves up on the bike before the run. Show up in better shape. Post race
Warm down: Walked around and did some leg stretches. Ate an orange that they provided at the finish and then watched all the other finishers. I enjoyed watching them come across. What limited your ability to perform faster: Poor training and experience. My training suffers because of my schedule and my injuries. I seem to be injury prone, especially when it comes to running. Event comments: Nice park, nice people, nice course. I will be back next year. I appreciated the security. They took their job seriously and I did not have to worry leaving stuff at the transition area. Last updated: 2013-06-06 12:00 AM

Breakfast of Greek Yogurt with Chia seeds, oatmeal, orange juice, and banana. Drove to race and set up. Walked around looking at bikes mostly.
Ran in place to get HR up and did some stretching. I thought I could get some swimming in before the race but they started right after the pre-race meeting.
