Swim
Comments: A lot better than Optimist start. I started left and in the front. No wading at horn just got right into the swim. Never touched another body. I came upon what appeared to be a distressed swimmer being picked up by a boat at the second buoy which slowed me, otherwise I had a pretty good pace going. I went around the outside of the boat away from the buoy so as not to impede their efforts. I seen a wave grouper next to me all the way back in but he blew me away when we hit shallow water. All I saw after that was his back as he ran up the beach. I'm happy with the swim, but still would like to be faster. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 1
Comments: Shoe flipped and slowed me as I tried to get it back. Up to that point I was doing well. Mounted the bike on the run and thought I was off to a good start. What would you do differently?: Get my feet on the shoes correctly. Bike
Comments: Fun ride. Passed more than passed me. I was able to take a few on the hills. I'm still slow. I was 1:47 slower than last year. I think there more wind this year. Still, my training has been slower too. What would you do differently?: Train to increase my speed. Transition 2
Comments: Very exciting dismount. I did the one leg over coast to stop and jump off. Trouble is, my pedal flipped catapulting my bike into the air along with one of my shoes. I was able to keep hold on the bike, pull it back to my side, straighten the wheel, and set it down without stopping my run. I hope they have a picture of that. A volunteer brought my shoe to the transition area as I was preparing for the run. So it was still a good run with bike despite that mishap. What would you do differently?: I will analyze why the bike flew into the air and adjust. Run
Comments: Very winded and stopped a few times to lower hr. At first I had a couple age groupers in front of me but I seen that I could catch them easily so I would stop, rest and not let them get to far ahead. I got going after awhile and ran at a comfortable pace until hitting the winding trail section after the windmill farm. They painted a red line in the grass to mark the trail and I'm color blind. Grass is red to me and after I passed a group, I was alone with nobody visible in front. I couldn't figure out where to run! I got passed so I followed. However, this person got to far ahead and with all the turns I kept losing my place. I had an age grouper on my tail I was not aware of, but I managed to reach the finish before he caught me. BTW, my calves did not cramp at the start for a change. What would you do differently?: Run harder. I don't think I had to stop and rest. I should have sucked it up and ran. Post race
Warm down: Walked and stretched a bit. What limited your ability to perform faster: Training and diet. Event comments: Enjoy this race. I like the music before the race. Could use more restrooms. Last updated: 2013-06-06 12:00 AM
