Swim
Comments: I definitely should have swam more than twice for training. What made matters worse is that I did a lot of manual labor the two days prior and my arms were toast! I am glad I finished. What would you do differently?: Not move over 3000 pounds of crushed concrete two days before, and not move over 5000 pounds of 3/4 minus gravel the day before. It left my arms and back sore and I had nothing for the swim. Transition 1
Comments: T1 went o.k. Would have like to get it under two minutes but I think more practice would help. It was a short run from the water to T1. Getting my feet into the shoes was a pain while riding. Even with rubber bands on the shoes I was having a difficult time with my right foot. What would you do differently?: Shoot for under two minutes. Bike
Comments: I would have like to average over 21 mph on the bike. I had just installed a computer but it was in kilometers so I kept guessing what my pace was. I could have pushed it more, but the swim knocked me for a loop. What would you do differently?: Be better prepared on the swim to really put the hammer down on the bike. Transition 2
Comments: Would have been nice to have some stretch laces on the shoes. Spent some time putting on socks and tying my laces. Would like to get this under a minute. What would you do differently?: Get the other laces put on before race day. Run
Comments: This is where I tanked. Being a Clydesdale you don't run fast, but with using a lot of my legs during the swim, I felt it in the run. I should have been a few minutes faster. What would you do differently?: Run more often and do more Brick training. Post race
Warm down: None - found my friends and family and enjoyed the moment. Choked down a couple of Muscle Milk drinks and sat around for a bit. What limited your ability to perform faster: SWIM, SWIM and the SWIM. Hindsight is always 20/20, and I should have not done so much manual labor the two days prior. Spend more time in the pool. I really need to dedicate some time for the swim. Event comments: We started 20 minutes late due to the parking situation and racers getting into the park. It made for a long wait in the water to start. Last updated: 2013-06-10 12:00 AM

Woke up at 2:00 am and started watching YouTube of triathlons until 3:30. Finally got some sleep until 5 a.m. Made and egg and had a English muffin. Arrived at Blue Lake at 6:00 a.m. and got a good spot in the transition area.
Spent some time in the water with the new wet-suit. Other than that nothing to speak of.
