Swim
Comments: One of my pet peeves at races is when they make you run a long way and include that in your swim time. There were 123 people in my wave (women 40 and up and all athenas.....old fat ladies) and I was probably in the top 15-20 out of the water..................and then got passed by at least 30 on the 1/4 mile run thru soft sand to T1. HIGHLY annoying. I would really love to make the fast runners swim the last 1/4 mile to transition and see how high and mighty they feel about it then. ANYWAY...this is my SWIM time not my SWIM and RUN time. I put the run in my T1 time, which I am totally OK with but don't make my good swim pacing look like crap because I can't run and dont' want to break my ankle in the sand thankyouverymuch. This is super good for me. It was low tide and you could walk it if you chose to but I am faster at swimming than walking thru water so I swam it. What would you do differently?: Not go to a race where they make the swim into a running race. Transition 1
Comments: This is my run thru the sand AND transition time. It took me 3:06 to get from the swim exit to the transition area. I had my swim skin to my waist and pulled the rest of it off. I had my bike shoes elasticed onto the bike so it was just a matter of putting my helmet and sunglasses on. The pavement was pretty pokey on my tender feet What would you do differently?: Pick a race that does not make you run 1/4 mile thru sand to T1. Really there was no reason to put the swim that far down the beach. Honestly I can't afford to break my ankle. I would not be able to start my new job and my season would be over. Bike
Comments: I feel good about this. There were 2 small bridges so we went over a total of 8 little bridges (out and back and out and back) which I handled very well. I passed a lot of people who were riding fat tires, walmart bikes and just plain old could not pace. Its a sprint..lots of newbies....it is what it is. I had fun :) What would you do differently?: Nada Transition 2
Comments: Well...............the pavement was REALLY pokey. I could not run on it. If I had known I would not have taken my feet out of my shoes and gone barefoot. I HAVE to run with socks so I sat down and dried my feet then put socks and shoes on, hat, race belt and off I go What would you do differently?: Keep my shoes on Run
Comments: This is spectacular for me and over 5 minutes faster than my 5K time at Rocketman last month. I did it on a 4:1 run:walk. Of course I rolled my bad ankle almost right away. ACK..Then we were onto the trail and I fell into my run walk. I actually like trails..........nice and cushiony. I had to walk around some muddy puddles and then BAM twist my ankle and down I go.....CRAP. Anyway..........I just kept going. I am super happy with this esp as its so much better than rocketman and the fact I have barely run the last few weeks. What would you do differently?: not have a crappy ankle Post race
Warm down: No warm down............I just got my stuff and hit the showers and got changed. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training, life stress, crappy ankle Event comments: This was pretty efficient esp as there were so many people in a short course race. My main complaint is the swim run issue. There was no reason to have the swim course that far from transition if the timing mats were an issue. Last updated: 2013-06-11 12:00 AM

Well I just moved...again and knowing there are a lot of races in the area I looked on trifind and VOILA a race my first weekend here. YAY ME!!!
Got up early as it took me a long time to drive up to packet pickup due to construction. We had to wade thru some rather swampy areas to get to transition and, as usual I got a bunch of mosquito bites. Those things LOVE me.
Got set up and found a quiet place to sit and enjoy my diet coke, be at a race and try to choke down the scone that had way too much frosting on it. Walked down to the swim start
