Pre-race routine:

Bagel and water. All packed the night before with the exception of my water bottle. It would be good to bring it with me, duh.
Event warmup:

Arm swinging and people talking. Normal stuff.

No training = no performance. Got to get more water time, like it or not!
What would you do differently?:

Train? Focus? Intensity? Form?

All of the above????

Comments:

Nice transition, continue working on improving these, there is a little time left here.
What would you do differently?:

Shouldn't have gone through the foot pool at the entrance, it wasn't helpful.

Comments:

OK, so this is where my race began and ended. I left the smooth road in Charlotte county and headed onto the rougher stuff. About 2.5 mile mark I was settling in, leaning a bit forward and moving about 22 MPH. Then the crap hit the fan. I hit a bump just as I was moving a bit on the bike, the back end went up. My hands went forward off the aero bars and my whole body pitched forward. Wrong place at the wrong time. I landed on my left side, got up, waved a few people past me, checked the bike, then got back on and got going again. I knew I was scratched up, but I didn't know how much, and I didn't check. Kept going, caught up to the folks that passed me and continued to pound along at about 21.5 - 22. Turn around was OK, got back up to speed, and then a few minutes later I heard the rear wheel hissing. Pulled over, pulled out CO2, and hoped for the best. Crap! Wheel off, tube out, tube in, wheel on and not enough air left in the CO2. And that is when I gave in. Someone asked if I needed help as they passed and I said "Yes, please" as I walked up the road. I finally looked at my legs and arms and figured out that I probably wouldn't have been allowed out of T2. Took a ride back from support and hit the med tent.
What would you do differently?:

Not crash, duh! Actually, the lesson here is tape on the aero bars, which goes on this week.

Post race
Warm down:

Sat in the med tent while the nice ladies put hydrogen peroxide on my entire left side. Friggin' OUCH!!! Then said "Thank you for giving your time" because they, like all volunteers, do not have to be here and without them there are no races.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Injury,

Event comments:

The race seemed a bit less prepared this year. I think the new RD got quite an education. This has to be a tough job and the previous RD was really good. He has a lot to live up to and I can't complain, since there is a learning curve. More volunteers on time would have been helpful, but I think he learned that.
