Swim
Comments: This really just blew me away b/c it was the easiest part of the entire triathlon. Started toward the front, and by the time I got to the first buoy I was pretty much alone. I could see 2 or 3 people in front of me. I just did my front crawl (only stroke I know) and every 3-4 strokes would look up to sight. I was completely shocked when I got out of the water and realized I was really close to the front. Then...we had to take our wetsuits off, put on our tennies and RUN 3/4 mile to the bikes! Carrying out wetsuits! I was even more shocked that I was the 3rd one to T1 and the first girl! What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Bike
Comments: Very difficult to hydrate on a mountain bike. This was a killer course. Many participants walked part of the uphill. Single track was narrow, but so much fun. What would you do differently?: When I fell on the first loop I knocked my seat lose and a little sideways. I should have stopped and adjusted it...but I kept going. Rode the 2nd loop with my seat way to low. Probably would have been much easier ride with it up. Transition 2
Comments: Forgot my number belt with my number...by the time I realized it was too late to go back and get it! Run
What would you do differently?: Run the whole length. Post race
Warm down: Came in with my family all there...my 3 girls cheering for me. Had some oranges, gatorade... Waited for my friend Beth to come in...cheered for everyone. What limited your ability to perform faster: My seat being too low Event comments: What a fun day. I can now say that I am a triathlete! Last updated: 2006-06-27 12:00 AM

Woke up at 6 because I couldn't sleep anymore. Had a pb and honey sandwich, some potatoes and coffee. Drove with my friend Beth up to the race. Talked with people, hung out. Very friendly, low key atmosphere as this was a "beginner" triathlon. The real Xterra was held the next day.
We were actually shuttled to the lake. (In true Xterra fashion, there was a 3/4 mile run from the exit of the lake to the bikes!)
Belly laughing with all the participants at the start of the swim. Someone mentioned how we all looked like the sperm in the Woody Allen movie with our wetsuits and caps on...
everyone was so nice.
