Run
Comments: A nice run, I went out fast, my first mile was 6:10. I backed off cuz if I ran that fast the rest of the way I'd die. I ran a slow mile 2 so I could regroup. At mile 2, people were passing me so I kicked it up. Passed a bunch of people again, and then let it rip near the finish line. I passed 4 people in the last quarter mile and then when I saw the finish line I sprinted and passed three more people in the last 200 yards or so. Wound up 18th overall and second in AG. What would you do differently?: Nothing...I think I had a perfect race today! Post race
Warm down: Drank a lot of water...met up with Terri's mom and Adam's wife, talked for a bit and then decided to walk and find Adam. Adam came in at around 32 minutes and then Terri came in like 30 seconds later!!! I'm thinking OMG!! BIG PR!!! So Adam and I met up with Terri, gave her a hug and congratulated her on the PR and of course I cried again. :) What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing. Event comments: This is one of the best races in this area. Of course it's organized by a huge organization but still, it is such a feel-good event. Sure it's supporting research that's related to a horrible disease, but we don't focus on the disease, we focus on the cure. I'm so proud to be able to support the Komen Race for the Cure. The awards ceremony was great...they recognized the survivors and there were guest speakers. Lots of tears. But what a great thing to witness. Last updated: 2006-06-27 12:00 AM

Got up early to make sure we'd get good parking in Vinoy Park area. St. Pete is not good for parking when there's a big event. Had a Frappucino, my usual pre-race supplements, and went to the race site. We set up our tent, put up our BT signs, and got ready to race!!
Not much, just a little jogging. Met up with Adam, walked out to the race site, and got all emotional with Terri. The three of us walked up to the starting line, we'd decided to start with the fastest people. I wanted to PR and take home some hardware so I made sure I started right at the line so I had a good chance. Terri wanted a PR too, so I told her to start up front and let the faster ones pass her but at least she'll be ahead of the other people who are running her pace.
