Pre-race routine:

Slept 3-4 hours, decided to get up about 3:30, would have liked more sleep but I was to keyed up. Put my gear together, had a couple of Zone bars & an OJ on way to race site, set up transition, talked with some fellow Nebraskans, put on wetsuit, had a half of a chocolate rice crispy bar, did some stretching, hung out with my neighbor waiting for our wave.

Run
  • 2h 07m 14s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 09m 43s  min/mile
Comments:

First two miles were great, intended to run a negative split with a 9 min pace, felt great to start looked at my watch & was like a7:30 pace, oh I need to slow down, tried to then looked again a 7:00 pace, finally got to an 8:30 pace then my stomach turned, body wanted to vomit but just couldn't, had to walk & shuffle the next few miles, could only take a bite of orange every few aid stations & a sip of sprite every 2-3 aid stations, wanted a gel & some coke but my body couldn't take it. Quads were cramping at the knees, had a little pickle juice about 3 miles apart, cramps eased dramatically but was hard on stomach.
What would you do differently?:

Try harder to push through the trouble, possibly try to vomit & move on as best as possible, if anyone reading this has any suggestions I would love to hear them!
Post race
Warm down:

Water, Chocolate milk, a few Doritos, while I waited for my friend/neighbor to finish & a big cheeseburger a couple hours later

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Stomach

Event comments:
