Subaru Western Triathlon Series
25C / 77F
Sunny
Total Time = 1h 59m 15s
Overall Rank = 53/136
Age Group = M4044
Age Group Rank = 4/8
Pre-race routine:

Weighed myself this morning and was under 200lbs for the first time in a couple of decades.

Not much of a routine, ate breakfast, headed to the finish line to set up T2, got on the bus, headed out to race start and set up T1. I put a lot of thought into my transitions and wanted them to be fast. Found a nice shady spot to hang out, visited with people that I knew.
Event warmup:

Went for a short swim, tested out the new goggles which were the exact same as the old, wore out goggles.
Swim
  • 16m 42s
  • 750 meters
  • 02m 14s / 100 meters
Comments:

I have no desire to do this triathlon crap anymore. Why am I here? Swimming in a pack sucks. These are the thoughts in my head, not a lot of fun. Not having the wetsuit made this harder than it had to be.
What would you do differently?:

I was fairly happy with my performance but would try to find a rhythm and mantra like I do for most swims.
Transition 1
  • 03m 42s
Comments:

Trying to put on a jersey over wet torso ate a minute of my time at least.
What would you do differently?:

Need to swim with top which means new equipment.
Bike
  • 1h 06m 31s
  • 37 kms
  • 33.59 km/hr
Comments:

I think my race wheels deflated during the ride. The course is one that I have ride a million times except for the new freeway parts. I am very happy with my performance on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Ensure race wheels were working properly.
Transition 2
  • 01m 46s
Comments:

Was very fast!!
What would you do differently?:

Not much, went very smooth.
Run
  • 30m 36s
  • 5 kms
  • 06m 06s  min/km
Comments:

Quads cramped really hard around the 1km mark. Tried to stretch it out much to the delight of my screaming hamstring. It took a while to work out the cramps but overall I am happy with the run.
What would you do differently?:

Train more bricks.
Post race
Warm down:

Had a small snack and got out of there quickly.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Jersey problem in T1. Cramping on run. No wetsuit swim.

Event comments:

Great race!!!
