Swim
Comments: Not my best swim, but considering I've been putting in a fairly lax amount of time in the pool the last bit it was fine. Lined up perfectly and had actual 0 contact the entire time. 9 seconds slower than last year unfortunately What would you do differently?: Seemed pretty ideal for the fitness I've got currently. Transition 1
Comments: Gravel path down from the pool to the parking lot. Fortunately I've been practicing my glass walking lately, so I was putting some speed down getting to the bike, feet be D@mned. Once I got to transition I had a brain fart on how to get my helmet on and it nearly slipped off my noggin. Otherwise pretty fast. :16 faster than last year What would you do differently?: Need to work on my flying mount, but otherwise it was pretty good. Bike
Comments: Legs came back to bite me on this. I was just feeling a bit "worn down" which makes sense considering my training the last week or two. On my CAAD road bike with clip on's. On this course I'm a little more comfortable riding it than I am my tri bike due to having to ride with "questionable" cyclists on the second lap. It ended up costing me a little time, but I was happy overall with my freshness and my equipment being what they were. :22 slower than last year What would you do differently?: Be a little fresher. Maybe ride my TT bike and not fret the other riders :) Transition 2
Comments: As I was coming in two cyclists had kinda wrecked into each other coming out, so I had to do some evasive maneuvers and it probably cost me a second or two. Overall was a good T2 though. :14 faster than last year What would you do differently?: Run faster :) Run
Comments: *Vanity Measured!! I wasn't running 5:32min/miles regardless of what the autocalc says. Had a fairly good run. Legs still felt pretty beat, but turnover was ok. Just held on and did what I could. :21 faster than last year What would you do differently?: Run more :) Be less tired. Post race
Warm down: Got something to drink, hung out with the family a bit, congratulated Alan (the winner) for not breaking but smashing the course record in a 32:49(!!!) and to my buddy Joe for his successful return to racing (beating me by about 40") I hate getting beat but am glad it was by two great fellas. Next year. What limited your ability to perform faster: Training, not doing a whole lot of speed work for shorter course stuff. Event comments: I guess I'm biased, but I really like this race. Great place to celebrate my entry into triathlon :) Last updated: 2013-07-06 12:00 AM

This is my tri anniversary! My first race was the West Side Y in 2009!
Been beating the legs up pretty significantly the last week, so I had a long warmup to try to get everything running properly. 1 lap on the bike and then 3/4 of the run course at increasing intensity. Then it was in the pool to get the arms loosened up.
