Total Time = 2h 31m 38s
Overall Rank = 110/120
Age Group = M 30-34
Age Group Rank = 13/13
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 4:45, ate peanut butter and honey sandwich. Packed car and drove 20 minutes to race site. Set up transition, drank a Gatorade.
Event warmup:

Stretched, put on wetsuit and swam approx. 150m.
Swim
  • 31m
  • 1200 meters
  • 02m 35s / 100 meters
Comments:

My navigation was horrible, I probably swam an extra 100m. Kept pulling to the left.
What would you do differently?:

Better navigation, stay on the buoy line.
Transition 1
  • 02m 8s
Comments:

Pretty long walk to my transition area from the T1 entrance. I have sensitive feet and couldn't run on the pavement.
Bike
  • 1h 01m 56s
  • 19 miles
  • 18.68 mile/hr
Comments:

Made some adjustments to the fit of my tri bike. Felt a little bit better, but not much. Couldn't get comfortable in aero for the 1st 4 or 5 miles. Didn't drink near enough, drank my BTA bottle dry and 1/4 bottle of Heed. Need to also work on my pedaling cadence. The last hill before transition nearly killed me, I didn't gear down near enough.
What would you do differently?:

Take Gatorade Endurance instead of Heed... I hate Heed. Also should have taken a bottle of water at the 1/2 way aid station to refill my BTA bottle. Need to tweak my bike fit a little more, I think a longer stem is in order.
Transition 2
  • 01m 14s
Comments:

Long walk from T2 entrance to my transition area.
Run
  • 55m 18s
  • 4.5 miles
  • 12m 26s  min/mile
Comments:

Run time is embarrassing. Both calves cramped coming out of T2. Run became a run/walk. It's clear that I haven't been running enough. 15 miles a week is not cutting it.
What would you do differently?:

Cramps, being 40lbs. overweight.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched, drank a Gatorade G2, cleaned up my transition, ate a Jimmy Johns sandwich.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Cramps, bad bike fit, not being hydrated, and most importantly being a fat ass.

Event comments:

I highly recommend this race. Community support is amazing, totally closed course with police (city, county, and state) patrolling all intersections.
