Swim
Comments: HORRIBLE swim! I started out front and got into the hype. I couldn't breathe after the first bit and started lifting my head up and was in panic. grrr. I kept moving fwd. I actually think my time was pretty good despite all my issues. I wander what it would have been if I was calmer What would you do differently?: relax and not hit it so hard on the way out Transition 1
Bike
Comments: this was the most frightening experience ever. Beware as you read on.... I left on the bike booking! I was passing huge amounts of people and hitting the hammer. I felt good. In fact there were very few people that passed me. About half way through I came to someone telling people to slow down. I knew there was an accident and asked myself if I should look over. I should have never done this. There was a guy on the side of the road will blood going everywhere. It was coming from his neck. I started to hyperventilate and my body got very cold and shaky. I started to cry and had to tell myself not to freak out because I didn't want to wreck or cause another accident. I said a quick prayer and tried to push through. This guy didn't survive. The images are still stuck in my head. May his soul rest in peace. He was a 38 yr old father from NY. So tragic! The news report says he hit the back of a SUV that ran out of gas. What a horrible memory. I kept riding and then another emergency vehicle came by. I pretty much had to stop for a second and then they let me around. What would you do differently?: take another water bottle. Mine leaked out and only had half a bottle. I'm also glad I brought a gel Transition 2
Run
Comments: I couldn't keep the horrific images out of my head. I couldn't wait to finish. There was about a half mile left when 2 ladies passed me. I finally got geared back towards the race and wanted to try and catch up, but I felt puke coming. I simmered back down and finished. Post race
Event comments: after entertainment was awesome. They had one heck of band and food and food! I didn't feel too well after this race for the rest of the day. Last updated: 2013-07-15 12:00 AM
