Pre-race routine:

Got up and did my normal morning routine. My 10 month old woke up early. I was able to kiss my wife and kid. Great Morning. Felt pretty good.
Event warmup:

Stretched and jogged around transition. Decided against getting the pool before the swim.
Swim
  • 10m 44s
  • 500 meters
  • 02m 09s / 100 meters
Comments:

Great swim. A lot of traffic and probably left a minute in the pool trying to get around people in the narrow lanes. 2 lanes were cut in half to make 4 50m lengths.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Time was included in the bike time
What would you do differently?:

Less toweling off. I wanted to get a little dryer because the temperature was so low. Very cold coming out of the pool
Bike
  • 1h 14m 4s
  • 21 miles
  • 17.01 mile/hr
Comments:

Great ride! I killed it on the bike. Average speed should be at least 19 because the transition time was added into the bike time. Very happy with this ride. I haven't been on my bike in over a month!
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Time included in bike time.
What would you do differently?:

I seriously need speed laces. That is number one on my list for next season. I would save at least a minute not having to tie my shoes.
Run
  • 45m 4s
  • 5 miles
  • 09m 01s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt great on the run. Started to slow down in the final mile, but I think it's because I ate the gel on the bike a little early.
Post race
Warm down:

Drank a bottle of water and just relaxed. It was great to have my parents here at this race. Walked around and stretched. It's really nice to be at Rec-Plex. Since I am a member, I was able to take advantage of the showers and really feel better before I even leave the race venue.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing much. I think it's just a matter of working on my running speed next season. This was my last triathlon of the year and it really felt great. I've learned a lot this year and I've got a great list of items to work on for next season.

Event comments:

This is a great race for the amount of money for the entry fee. It's very organized and perfect for someone's first triathlon and also a nice race to use as a workout. The transition area was different this year along with the bike course. It was actually a much better change. They should look at doing this again next year. I highly recommend this race to anyone wanting to do a triathlon.
