What would you do differently?: Being my first race, I'm OK with 17 mph. Definitely an area of improvement for future races Transition 2

Comments: With my usual 5k pace being around 8 min/mi I was hoping for better. But had a nice learning experience with what happens to your calves shortly after you start running after mashing on the bike....they lock up! After shaking that off, I trudged through the rest of the course. I had really expected to be closer to my stand-alone 5k pace. What would you do differently?: I've since been stretching my calves while on the bike subsequent to the dismount and making sure fully hydrated before the race, and have not had a cramping issue like that again. Post race
Event comments: I like this race, flat and fast and will probably do it again next year and aim for a PR, this would be a good course for it. Last updated: 2013-07-25 12:00 AM
