Pre-race routine:

Got there early and picked up race packet and got transition ready. Changed in the car and went to the bathroom a couple times. Drank bottle of gatorade.
Event warmup:

Rode bike a bit - did a little stretching
Swim
  • 18m 37s
  • 805 meters
  • 02m 19s / 100 meters
Comments:

Forgot to start watch - was at about 18 getting out of the water. It was a long way to the timing pad and T1.
What would you do differently?:

This swim was much better than at Belle Isle. No current plus I stayed to the outside and back at the start to avoid the mess. Stayed relaxed like I wanted and concentrated on keeping good stroke mechanics.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Had to get bike off curb before getting on then got a little bit of a slow start. Not sure how long this transition was but don't think I took too long.
What would you do differently?:

Put foot in left shoe before getting on.
Bike
  • 35m 56s
  • 11 miles
  • 18.37 mile/hr
Comments:

The bike went great felt good and passed a lot of people.
What would you do differently?:

Not drink so much. Felt Sloshy during the run.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Wasn't sure which way to go coming out of T2 but figured it out pretty quickly.
What would you do differently?:

nothing.
Run
  • 28m 23s
  • 3 miles
  • 09m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

Lost a lot of ground during the run. Need to work on more bricks.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I did better than expected as I trained through this event. I woke up feeling unmotivated but once I got into it, I really enjoyed it. I was very happy with my performance overall. Still need to work on swim endurance and running off the bike.

Event comments:

I liked the fact it was on a Saturday. I was a little worried that there was no pre-race packet pick up but this worked out OK. Nice small venue - nothing fancy but well-run. Will do this one again.
