Swim
Comments: Lined up in the 1:11-1:20 group. I personally had no issues with contacts, but other people I guess had some troubles. I just had the normal amount contact that you would see in other OWS during tri's. What would you do differently?: This was my first Ironman so I was a bit more timid. Next time I'll probably be more comfortable and will head closer to the cable line. I stayed pretty wide of it, but was right on target for my projected time based on training. Transition 1
Comments: Changed into bike shorts - best decision of the day! Forgot chamois butter though - not so good decision of the day. Lesson learned! Bike
Comments: My bike fitness suffered this year after taking last fall off for an injury. I followed my race and nutrition plan to a tee and had a great experience. Transition 2
Comments: Changed shorts again! Run
Comments: I had been suffering from major knee/IT-band/hip issues throughout my training cycle and did not run over 12 miles so I knew the run would be a struggle for me. I had a better than expected first half of the race! Then the knee started to go around mile 14, but I was able to run/walk until mile 18 when the knee finally gave out and I had to walk the remaining miles. I was able to run the final mile to the finish though! :-) Post race
Event comments: I had an absolutely awesome first Ironman experience and can't wait for my next one! You can read my full race report at: http://bigskymultisportcoaching.com/2013/08/01/race-report-ironman-... Last updated: 2013-08-01 12:00 AM
