Swim
Comments: Yet another reverse so this was the last leg, really I was pleased with this swim it was my best of the year and felt really good. I still need to improve but it's good to see some progress. I was in third coming into the pool and was passed by a 13 year old girl who was an absolute fish I think she swam the 525 yards in about 6.5-7 minutes. What would you do differently?: Swim more as usual Transition 1
Comments: As good as I think I can get. Being a reverse this was run to bike. Shoes off, Shoes on, helmet on and off and riding. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: Good Ride I ended up passing 5 people that had beat me in on the run, the smoke didn't seem to affect me as much on the bike as much as it did on the run. Being as my derailur was out of whack I fought every single gear change but overall I don't think it slowed me down all that much. I'm really happy with my cycling and felt great. What would you do differently?: Push just a little harder Transition 2
Comments: Bike to swim, I have to swim with ear plugs otherwise I get instant ear infections it seems like, my ear plugs got scattered during T-1 but other than that this was good. What would you do differently?: Find a better way to store my earplugs. Run
Comments: SMOKE, man this about killed me I wasn't feeling great during the run and almost called it a day at the end of the run, other than that it was okay, but the smoke was horrible and really affected me during the run. My pace should have been faster but I ran the race how I thought I should and it worked out in the end. What would you do differently?: Not let the conditions get to me as well as trying to calm down after the warm-up debacle. Post race
Warm down: Not much played with Tucker, he sure is a spirit lifter when you can hear him cheering for you in transition. Had some food and water watched everyone else finish and talked with the girl that beat me, man she sure has a bright future ahead of her if she sticks with it. I really can't compalin it ended up being a PR but it could have been faster. What limited your ability to perform faster: Smoke, and being a little shook up from my chrash if you can call it that. Event comments: Same course as always and a good race happy with the PR but wish it was a little faster. Last updated: 2013-08-05 12:00 AM

Being as this was a local race and I live about a 1/4 mile from the start I got to sleep a little later than usual. Also this made me a little less than concerned about my usual routine. I got up had a cup of coffee and a shake, put everything in the truck and drove over to the pool. There is also a fire burning near Yosemite that is pouring smoke into our area so the air quality is less than spectacular as a matter of fact our air quality is worse than Bejing China at the moment. Turns out I forgot my ipod so I went back and got that. I went into the locker room to change in to my race gear, and it turns out I forgot my shoes, jumped in the truck and went home to grab those. At this point I was more than flustered but was able to calm down for a minute (more on that later).
Stretched and jogged a little, I realized my bike was probably in the wrong gear so I put on my shoes and helmet to make a quick lap around the block. As I clipped in I pushed on the left pedal to go and unbeknownst to me I went down as my chain was off and it got stuck between the cassette and the frame. I shredded the front tube so had to change that in a hurry got everything dialed in made a lap around the block and realized me rear derailur had been affected by the spill. So needless to say I was more than a little flustered and not nearly as ready as I wanted to be.
