Swim
Comments: My first swim I had trouble breathing and I attributed it to first time jitters. But after swimming yesterday, I really think that it was because the water was cold. I'm slow, but I'm a good swimmer - have been since I was a kid so there's no reason for me to have panicked. In any case, I'm feeling really good about my swim. I just need to get faster. What would you do differently?: Probably nothing. Train this winter for sure! Transition 1
Comments: Wetsuit transitions always take me longer - but since this time I used a ton of body glide and I put my timing chip under my suit, it came right off. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: As usual, my bike leg carries me though the rest of the course. I felt strong but probably could have pushed harder. What would you do differently?: Push more? Transition 2
Comments: I think my transitions are pretty good. Run
Comments: While this run may not look great on paper, it's REALLY good for me after having swam and biked. My leg felt great and I'm hoping this is the beginning of really being able to train hard. Post race
Warm down: Walked around a bit. Probably should have hopped in the river to cool down my post tib tendon but we jumped in the car instead to get to breakfast! What limited your ability to perform faster: My own limited training. Event comments: Overall this was a well run, organized and supported event. This is the 30th year so they've got it down to a science now. I had a good time and it added to my confidence level going forward. Last updated: 2013-08-05 12:00 AM

This was the earliest I've had to get up for an event - 4:30am wakeup call to leave the house by 5:00am. I put Irish oats in the crock pot the night before and made a to go serving for the car with blueberries. DH drove (thankfully).
The river was FREEZING. I did a few strokes and just kind of bobbed up and down trying to stay somewhat warm. It was unexpected for this time of year but luckily I ALWAYS take my wet suit with me just in case.
