Swim
Comments: I am a very slow swimmer and I've only swum 3 times this year. I kept trying to get to the pool to train but life got in the way. I was not worried about finishing; I just wish I were faster. My goal for 2014 is to learn how to swim faster. Based on the swim training; I am happy with this What would you do differently?: Actually train Transition 1
Bike
Comments: Flat 9 mile 2 loop course. Roads were closed which was nice. Since this was a small race there was little congestion (by the time I came through anyway). Lots of volunteers to direct you and cheer you on. I probably could have gone faster but knew the run was hilly so I held back a little. I've only biked a few times this summer so I can't really complain about my results What would you do differently?: I sound like a broken record but............train more Transition 2
Comments: It took forever to tie my shoes. My fingers refused to work. I'm not sure if it was fatigue or nerves or what; but it was really weird. I eventually got that done and ran out. What would you do differently?: Get new laces I don't need to tie Run
Comments: I felt really good on the run. I've been doing a lot of running this summer. I'm still pretty slow but much better than I was a year ago. I walked a little on the hills. Passed at least a dozen people on the run. What would you do differently?: Should have ran faster the last mile. I had lots of energy when I finished. Post race
Warm down: Nothing really. Wander around a little and chat What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of swim and bike training Event comments: This was an inaugural, small race in Denville, NJ. I thought they did a good job. Seemed well organized and very relaxed compared to some bigger races I've done which I enjoyed. Last updated: 2013-08-11 12:00 AM
