Swim
Comments: goggles got kicked off my face in the first 25 yards. I had a mild panic attack, had to stop and collect myself. Pulled it togeter and had a good first lap, and a very solid second lap Transition 1
Comments: tough to get a fast transition time considering how far you have to go to get from the lake to the tent, also, I got out of the water with a lot of people so we all were doing the same thing at the same time in the same place. What would you do differently?: Organize my bags a little bit better. I had too much stuff that I would never use. Bike
Transition 2
What would you do differently?: Again, too much stuff in my bag. I can run with two amphi pods and two in the special needs bag. special needs should always have sports-slick or something similar. Run
Comments: I got good at using the sponges in the aid stations. I started to really look forward to them. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: I needed more quality run work. I will have to dial in a better sense of my power for next year - and stick to it!! Event comments: This is such a hard event. There are many areas that I can improve in with my prep for 2007. Looks like Kona in 2008 or in 2009 when I make the leap to 40 AG. Oh and by the way - Matthew Hanshaw, You Are an Ironman. Last updated: 2006-07-02 12:00 AM

4 AM wake up. Ate some peanut butter bread, granola and a power bar.
A few swim strokes to get comfortable in the water.
