Pre-race routine:

Longer drive than normal - i usually keep my races to within an hour of home. The 1:40 drive made me wake up earlier than normal, but I felt good. Did not have much warm-up time as I showed up toward the end of setup.
Event warmup:

Very little. One item of note is that there is about a 15 minute gap between the Oly waves and the Sprint waves, to avoid route confusion. No need to get your goggles and hat on right away.
Swim
  • 07m 34s
  • 440 yards
  • 01m 43s / 100 yards
Comments:

Swam very hard for me. this is a short, short swim so no need to hold back.
What would you do differently?:

Start further ahead in the pack. given the short swim the first 1/2 is congested and I could have gone faster.
Transition 1
  • 02m 8s
Comments:

Really need to work on wetsuit removal and T1. Most of the people who finished around my time had a minute less on this transition.
Bike
  • 38m 4s
  • 14 miles
  • 21.74 mile/hr
Comments:

Fast ride for me. Perfect day for racing so there were no excuses -- cool morning, overcast, no wind.
Transition 2
  • 00m 56s
Comments:

Not bad considering kind of a bad transition spot due to my late arrival.
Run
  • 23m 7s
  • 3 miles
  • 07m 47s  min/mile
Comments:

Better than I expected. I have not been run training much this summer due to very stiff knees. 1st mile was tough, then I felt good. Goal was to keep it around 8 per mile, so this is a good time.
Post race
Warm down:

Hung out with an old friend.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Transitions.

Event comments:

Main reason i wrote this review was to tell all MN BTers that this is a great race, one you all should consider. Yeah, it is a little further from the Twin Cities but the venue is great and they really do a nice job. Plus, when you are done, you are right on the Zorbaz patio and can hang out there all day if you want. A great race to meet people at and then hang out afterward.

My only very minor complaint is that there could be one or two more water stations on the run, but in the scheme of things I felt this race was very well organized and will do it again. Plus, it is not so big to be chaotic with about 400 people. Enough racers to make it feel highly competitive, but not so many that you can't find a place to park.
