Run
Comments: It was a nice day for a run, I've ran this race once before so I knew what to expect. I knew there would be about 2 miles of climbing at the end, I was planning on walking up but I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to run about 3/4 of the last 2 miles. The previous year I started walking at mile 10, this year I kept running and only walked a little on the steepest part of the incline. What would you do differently?: Try to slow down at the start but its kind of hard when you're running down hill for the first few miles. Post race
Warm down: Walk around looking for my GF, got some water a recovery drink and walked half a mile to our car. Once I got home I foamed rolled, stretched and hit the hot tub. What limited your ability to perform faster: I started out too fast 1min.mi faster then my race pace. I also only ran 10 miles for my longest run. Event comments: There's a stretch after you come down Cabrillo that there aren't water stations until you get to Harbor Island, the only reason i'd like another water station in between those two places is because you just ran down a 4 mile decline trying t hold yourself back and you hit this stretch and you could use some water to cool you down from coming down that hill. Other than that it was great, you have to be prepared for the last two miles since it's a nice incline. Last updated: 2013-08-21 12:00 AM

Got up at 4:30 am and ate half a cliff bar and some coconut water. Drove to the shuttle pick up are and 1 hr before the race ate half a banana.
There was really no warm up for me since I spent most of the time on the shuttle and waiting for a port-a potty.
