Got up and had breakfast at the hotel, drove to race site and set up transition area

Comments:

Was in 5th wave, stayed in deeper water as my wave included Clydesdale and youths with parents. Passed some of previous waves toward the end. Started out with freestyle but kept running into people and resorted to breast stroke for most of swim.
What would you do differently?:

Stick with freestyle

I have MTB shoes that require lacing and velcro straps, need to look for faster method to put them on.

Riding a walmart MTB with nobbies, pace was good for me. A little tired toward the end. Was able to get out of the pedals without crashing. Time is estimated. I passed a lot of people that started in waves in front of me so I felt good about the ride.
What would you do differently?:

A new road bike is not in the budget this year, have ordered slick tires for the MTB for August race.

Legs were tired from bike, I walked/ran as I was able around the lake, finally got my legs in the 2nd mile and finished stronger.
What would you do differently?:

Need to work on brick training.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I need to stick to my training plan and work more on the run. Also need to get more distance into my bike training sessions. I entered this race about 5 weeks into my 12 week training program to get a reading on where I was and to see where improvements were needed. I certainly accomplished that goal. This was my first TRI and I was pleased with the result.

Event comments:

was some delay in tallying results. would have been nice to have some way to time the seperate segments.

I signed up for Clydesdale group but would have placed in exact same position if I has went same age group. Might go age group in the next race.

my bike computer had the distance a closer to 9 miles, not sure if the bike is correct. My training times are averaging about 13.5 - 14.0 mph so I think the distance was overstated in the brochure
