Swim
Comments: First lap was just like all my other swims, I had a hard time getting into a breathing rhythm. Second lap was much better, breathing every three strokes I was able to kepp up with people and actually make some passes. Transition 1
Comments: Left my gear in bags so that slowed me down. If it had not been raining I would have had everythin set out better. What would you do differently?: Nothing based on circumstances of rain. Bike
Comments: Stomach was hurting because I swallowed a little too much air in the swim. The pain made it difficult to properly fuel and hydrate. I used all my gels, but I took 2 bottles of g-ade and drank them, but I had planned to need to refill a bottle to make the full distance. Legs began cramping about 35 miles in. I pulled of the road 4 times to just get out of the saddle for a bit. I was shhoting for 18 mph average, but the wind kicked up on the way back in. What would you do differently?: The g-ade was a little strong so my stomach was doing great with it with the cramps. Maybe use Ice to dilute instead of freezing the g-ade and topping off the bottle. I also couldn't handle all 3 bars I took with me. Eating while riding with pain took almost 8 minutes to finish a bar. Transition 2
Comments: Once agian gear was in the bags, but I needed to be able to take some time here. Put sunscreen on ears, neck, and arms. What would you do differently?: I don't know, I was pushing myself to get through transition Run
Comments: WOW!!! This was so much harder than I anticipated. The cramping legs on the bike really bit me at the start of the run. In less than a mile each of my quads would ball up when my legs would lift. I had to walk that out. I really questioned if I would be able to fish this. I tried running a little and walking and then run a bit further each time, but that was not working. My heart rate would go up and I would have to stop not just walk. At about 4.5 miles I found a strategy, run .1, walk .1. Rest stations I would take 2 cups of water and an orange slice. I finished the last 8 plus miles like that. I felt good during my run sections, but was afraid if I ran more than the .1 I wouldn't be able to keep to the strategy. What would you do differently?: ????? Post race
Warm down: Slice of Pizza water and Cytomax. Then got my gear together because we had a school carnival to get to. What limited your ability to perform faster: Swallowed air and leg cramping. Event comments: On my first run lap several drink stations were out of ice. Last updated: 2013-09-05 12:00 AM

Up at 4 AM, got to park about 5 AM, I had 2 uncrustables, Checked on bike and went back to the car because it was raining so much. Later I went out and set up the transition and uncovered the bike. I left my bike and run gear in plastic shopping gear to stay dry. Added some time to transition but I wanted to make sure everything was dry.
